Known as menaquinone (MK), vitamin K2 is a fat-soluble vitamin
essential for maintaining strong bones. One major form of vitamin
K2 is MK-4, also known as menatetrenone. The number after MK
represents the number of isoprenoid residues in the side chain.
Vitamin K2 supports activity of osteoblasts, which are specialized
cells that regulate the mineralization of bone. Emerging science also
suggests benefits of vitamin K2 in supporting heart health.
